When selecting the path that you are going to take for your higher education, information is needed. It is important to ask yourself some questions that will enable you to be well informed. Asking the right questions will be the start of self-realization and your answers may surprise you.

What are my goals and how will university help me?

B.B King stated that “The beautiful thing about education is that no one can take it away from you”. It is said that what makes university important is not the mere subject knowledge that will be acquired, but the disciple and soft skills that will be gained through the process. Regardless of the subjects that are selected, university will provide an environment that will be conducive for personal growth and development.

Does the school serve my academic and professional interests?

Life after graduating may still seem a haze, yet it is important to develop your analytical and research skills. This will be a life skill that will help you regardless of what you opt to do. If you know exactly what you want to do during and after university, look for university that will support your ambitions. For example, if you are planning on becoming a lawyer, find an undergraduate programme with a high rate of graduating students who get into law school. The additional support that the university gives such as internships and industry placements are also important.
